Character Bookmarks

We like playing with stuff and create nice and useful things for which you don’t need special talents, but only some inspiration and a little time. These character bookmarks are not only fun to make, but also to gift! There are unlimited possibilities, depending on the book, preferences, favorite characters and even season. Read on to learn to create your favorite character bookmark!

We present here a few examples you can make with the promise that there will be more to come for the fall!

ANGRY BIRDS – CHARACTER BOOKMARKS

WHAT YOU NEED
IMG_5731

Green, red, white & yellow paper
Black marker
Solid paper glue
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
A quarter

HOW TO

  1. To create the Angry Birds bookmark, we start with a square made of paper. Draw the edges of a square on the red paper. Our square has sides of 6 inches/13 cm.
  2. Cut out the square.
  3. Unite two corners diagonally. You will have a triangle.
  4. Bend two corners of the triangle towards the tip. You will have a square.
  5. Open it and bend one of the two flaps that make the tip towards the base.
  6. You will introduce the two tips in the pocket formed.
  7. Now we have a bookmark ready for decoration! Let’s go ahead and create the tummy. Mark the location of the tummy on the bookmark.
  8. On a white sheet, trace the measurement of the tummy (from the bookmark location).
  9. Cut it out.
  10. Glue the tummy between the marks drawn at 7.
  11. It’s time for the eyes. Trace two circles with the help of a quarter with the black marker.
  12. Cut out the circles/eyes.
  13. Glue them on.
  14. On a yellow sheet, outline the beak.
  15. Cut it out.
  16. Glue it on.
  17. Almost there! But the bird is not angry at all. It needs its eyebrows. Cut out two small rectangles from a white sheet and color them black with the marker. If you have a black paper sheet, the better.
  18. Glue them above the eyes and you’re all done!

TURQUOISE & SILVER – CHARACTER BOOKMARKS

WHAT YOU NEED
IMG_5814

White envelope
Turquoise & silver washi tape
Scissors

HOW TO

It’s a very easy way to create a bookmark, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

  1. Cut out one corner of the envelope to create the bookmark itself. The bookmark below has 8cm/3in sides.
  2. Let’s decorate it! We used two pieces of turquoise tape to add two large lines and a small piece for the tip. We used a piece from the silver tape to add another line between the turquoise pieces, and another piece to create small strips to decorate the turquoise lines. We also added a little heart using the scissors.
