Kylie Cosmetics Makeup Haul & Review

Anyone who is passionate about makeup and uses Instagram already knows about Kylie Jenner’s liquid lipsticks. And although some time has passed since she launched them, her products are still sparking controversies. Kylie herself is a controversial person that sells out everything she promotes. Same thing happened with her products. Crazy.

However, we finally managed to get our hands on some of the famous products from Kylie Cosmetics and write a Kylie Cosmetics Makeup Haul & Review. We ordered them in the beginning of December as Christmas presents, but unfortunately, they were not delivered on time because… well, the Romanian post office. We also paid customs fees, just so you know if you plan on ordering them. Obviously, if you’re in the US, you won’t have to deal with customs.

We ordered three lip kits and two eyeshadow palettes:

  • Kristen | Lip Kit
  • Maliboo | Lip Kit
  • Dirty Peach | Lip Kit
  • The Burgundy Palette | Kyshadow
  • The Bronze Palette | Kyshadow

The products were delivered in a sleek black box, and on top of what we ordered, we also received a standard holographic card with a note from Kylie. Everything was packed in another box full of foam sponges. Shipping is $14.95 USD worldwide, and if you order over $60 USD, you get free shipping.

Lip Kits

Kylie’s lip kits are $29.00 USD each, and they contain a liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner. The lipsticks are matte and they have a standard doe foot applicator. The lip liner is pencil style and it will need sharpening from time to time.

Both the lipsticks and the liners are very pigmented and last a long time on, especially if you apply the liner first. The lipsticks have a liquid formula, and they dry up and mattify in a few seconds, while the lip liners have a creamy formula. For the best and long lasting wear, fill in your lips entirely with the liner first, then follow with lipstick.

Generally, they fade less and are more transfer-proof then other similar lipsticks. They are also a bit scented with a subtle hint of vanilla.

We love the formula of the lipsticks, which makes for an easy application and long lasting wear, without needing to touch up or to apply another layer. Also, they don’t dry up your lips, form crusts or crack during wear.

The shades, however, are different from the ones on the website. Not only that, but there is a considerable difference between how they look on the skin to what they look like on the lips. So make sure you keep that in mind when you make your choice. Kristen and Dirty Peach are still gorgeous even though the shades are different. However, the biggest issue we encountered was with Maliboo. The color becomes almost gray on the lips.

The packaging is really beautiful and high quality for all Kylie products, but unfortunately the lip liners don’t quite adhere to that description. The caps didn’t fit well at all on two of the lip liners, so much so that we gave up on the caps, and when we tried to sharpen them, the entire core came out.

Kristen | Lip Kit

I chose Kristen because I love red shades and I didn’t have this berry shade in my makeup collection yet. Stronger colors look better on me than paler colors because of my complexion and blond hair.

Kyshadow Palettes

The Kyshadow palettes have nine pressed powder eyeshadows each. Their packaging is made of thick cardboard, with magnetic closure, and on the back, you can find each of the palette’s shades and their respective names. They’re $42.00 USD each and are talc and paraben free.

The palettes have a mixture of metallic, satin and matte shades. The colors are pigmented and have a medium buildable coverage, which means that they’re easy to blend and to build up the intensity, depending on your application.

As opposed to the lip kits, the palettes were a complete success for us. The colors are very pigmented, and even though they’re powder, they’re very velvety, compared to other palettes whose colors are more difficult to blend or fall out during application. They last hours on, even without primer.

Also, you can for sure create entire looks using just one of the palettes, without having to refer to other palettes.

Overall, we are very happy with the products from Kylie Cosmetics and we’re definitely not sorry for purchasing them. The palettes are great and we use them often. Same with the lipsticks, although we would choose other shades and we would definitely switch Maliboo with a lighter shade.

There’s another thing you should know. As Kylie herself says on www.kyliecosmetics.com, her site is the only one that sells her original products, she does not have any retailers. Be aware of that so you don’t fall pray to all the fake sites or products out there.
