VITA LIBERATA PHENOMENAL 2-3 WEEK TAN MOUSSE is one of the biggest disappointments of this summer. Why? Well, let’s go at it step by step in our Vita Liberata Tan Mousse review below.
I watched a ton of YouTube tutorials about this product and was extremely excited. And although it’s summer and we should have let the sun do the trick, we weren’t able to achieve a dignified tan. Nor have we frequented the beach or pool this summer (which is strange for us, but let’s say that we had other priorities) but either way we are not people who tan easily. So I thought it was the perfect time to try Vita Liberata products.
We purchased the self-tanner in the mousse version from Sephora (there’s also a lotion one) pHenomenal 2-3 Week Tan Mousse in Medium, of 50ml/1.69 fl oz, the only shade they had. Although even if they had it in Dark we would still have chosen the Medium thinking it would result in a tan a tad too intense. Medium is always safer. It also came
with a mitt, but in a mini version, so our advice would be to buy the larger one individually.
We arrived home excited and eager to try it. I already knew what to wear the next day so that the tan would look gorgeous.
WHAT DO THEY SAY? Vita Liberata Tan Mousse Review
This self-tanning mousse contains pHenO2 technology, ensures a long-lasting tan and a natural look. It dries very quickly, colors the skin instantly and intensifies in 4 to 8 hours, and lasts up to 3 weeks. You can also watch various YouTube videos from Sephora or QVCtv that show you how to use the product and the subsequent results.
WHAT DO WE SAY? Vita Liberata Tan Mousse Review
We followed every instruction: we washed the skin with a shower gel and exfoliated the skin well without hydrating, then we applied the mousse with the mitt and massaged each area of the skin in circular motions. Exactly like in their instructions and tutorials.
The thing is that we couldn’t see anything. No difference. Yet we convinced ourselves that we’ll see it in a few hours, although the brag that the results are instantaneous. Indeed there certain areas, mostly the face and stomach, where we almost imperceptibly a shade darker. But not in any way similar to the way they promoted it to be.
We applied a second layer in the same evening, after 4 hours. Still no difference. Yes, the skin was slightly hydrated; yes, it applied easily and evenly; yes, it did have a scent although they guarantee no smell at all; yes, I woke up with a stained shirt although they say, again, that it doesn’t leave any stains on fabrics. But tan? Nope.
The thing is that the Medium Tan version we used is supposed to help you achieve a tan equivalent to a weekend at the beach, but after we used the product we weren’t tan not even for a half-day at the beach. So the fact that we didn’t use the Dark version it not an excuse, we still had to see some results, somehow.
2-3 WEEKS LATER Vita Liberata Tan Mousse Review
Maria began to lose her ‘tan’ starting from the first shower. Actually, it was less like losing and more like coming off on the towel, kind of like when you’re very dirty and try to remove the dirt with a dry towel. I was different. From the first night when it came off on the shirt, nothing happened for the next week or so. But after a while, it started to come off the same way (like dirt), and dark spots emerged on my legs.
CONCLUSION Vita Liberata Tan Mousse Review
We were very disappointed and ended up with the same untanned skin this summer. We had hopes for it to be our little secret before an event, and for it to help us look nice and tan regardless of season and occasion.
Maria and I have totally different skin types. So bearing that in mind, we can say with certainty that this was not a singular case. We are two people with different skin type using the same product and achieving no results. We had maybe a tiny bit of color. But paying around $50 for a self-tanner that only colors your skin very slightly, is absurd. Obviously, if you use a self-tanner, you want to actually be tanned.
On the other hand, we can’t say this is the worst self-tanner ever, we haven’t tried them all, just that it is a very overstated product. It doesn’t come close to say drugstore or Avon products. Those can be called extremely poor self-tanners, or even fakes. Compared to those, Vita Liberata at least applies smoothly and doesn’t leave streaks or spots. However, it did not rise up to our expectations. Especially after reading tons of positive reviews about it on the Internet. You can find very few negative reviews.
Not to mention the mitt it comes with. It’s very small, you can barely fit 4 fingers in it, and it’s not very waterproof. It made for not only an uncomfortable application but also a difficult one after which you’re left with horrible stains on your hands that take days to eliminate.
We will order the Dark version online, together with the large version mitt and maybe our opinion will improve. We’ll keep you posted! In the meantime, tell us what self-tanner you use, if you use, and if you tried Vita Liberata. Who knows, maybe it works for you!
